Contents page design

In this part of the task i designed and made a contents page. I done this with the same processes as the front cover. Here is the finished product.

  I will now get audience feedback to see how i can improve my design and also show how i made this.

Audience Feedback

After reading the audience feedback i will look at improving the layout and main picture and make the heading stand out more than it does. However i will keep the clip art pictures, picture line at the top and the rest of the features.

Front cover first draft.

 This is the first draft of my front cover. I feel that this can be improved with the help of audience feedback however i will obviously need help with this. I feel it could be made to look more professional than it does maybe with a better layout or colour scheme but i will see how the audience says i should improve it.

The making of the Front cover.

Here I will show how I came about making my first front cover. I will show all the steps in which i carried out to produce my first front cover draft. It will also show all the programmes i used in order to create this cover.

Organising a Photo shoot.

For our next task we had to organise a photo shoot within the school to get some good photos for our school magazine cover.We did this during lesson time using cameras given to us by the school. The perfect location for a school aimed picture was the school and the correct 'costume' was school uniform. We took a few photos only a few of which I am aiming to use.
Here are the photos and the reason in which I am going to or not going to use them.

This was one of the first pictures we took. I wont be using this picture as i feel the angle is not right. The boy in the picture looks cheeky which is not the aim of character i was going for within the picture. Over than this the picture would have been perfect as the uniform is smart and positioning is ideal.

I will be using this picture on my magazine as although the student isnt wearing his blazer he still looks smart. The smile creates a happy character in the picture which was what i was looking for and the positioning in the picture is ideal for what i was looking for.

I chose not to use this picture as the students in it do not look smart enough for the idea of a school magazine. This is because they are not in school uniform.This location would have been ideal if a student with uniform was walking down the stairs however we did not have the appropiate students available at the time.

Although this picture looks smart and happy, the look i was aiming for, i will not be using it as some other members of my group are.The picture is also slightly too central for the design i was looking for so this would not be appropriate for my magazine cover.

If i was to carry out another photo shoot i would make sure that i had appropriate models and locations sorted before the shoot had taken place. This way i could be sure that i would get more than 1 use able imagine in my shoot.

Here are the rough designs for my magazine cover. All of the previous tasks helped aid my design choices within this task. I have designed 3 front covers and 1 contents page. The design i will choose for my final choice will be the first design on this page.

Questionnaire Results.

Summary- From asking these questions to a total of 10 people i came to the conclusion that my  magazine should include Bright Colours. It should also have a gossip and sports section before other parts of the magazine are considered.Reflect the style of Ok magazine as that is the targets audience's favourite magazine and it should include pictures of both students and the school grounds. I also found that people found teachers comments within the magazine would be useful and that the magazine should consist of more stories and pictures that quizzes. I will keep this in mind when designing.

Contents Page Annotations

Here I have carried out the same task as before yet with Contents pages of school Magazines. I done this for the same reasons as before too aid with the design work of my magazine.

Within this task , I carried out research on existing school magazine cover and contents pages. I then annotated them in aid with my further tasks of designing a cover of my own. This helped me to see which features of a school magazine was popular and which was not so.Here are my annotated Covers.
